Carbon Calculator Launched for Alcoa

October 15th, 2008 // michael // Topics: , , ,

Turns out openbox9 was minty-green and was not the green, tree-hugging group it thought it was. We learned alot about how one can reduce their carbon footprint on the Earth and enjoyed every minute.

It was a grand project that Alcoa and the Pew Center on Global Climate Change took on — build a calculator and resource site to equip the employees of Alcoa “To Make an Impact” and help save the Earth. What openbox9 provided was the strategy for the user-experience, the branding (logo created by 3rd party), and the interface design. Our hope is that the site does make an impact and our Earth reaps the rewards.

Hah! Awesome. I was a final candidate for the job at the Pew Center to work with Alcoa on this project. How did it turn out?

What a fun time that would have been if you were hired. How did it go you ask? The project had alot of amazing new ideas added to the conventional calculator and it was a joy to play a part in it. As you might have know, Alcoa was the first, of hopefully many, companies out there to partner with Pew in this way. Currently I am in the middle of designing a similar site for Entergy.
