This summer has been a blast interning with openbox9. I was given many challenge – from painting to working on branding projects, all while learning Adobe tools.
My favorite project was a stairway mural. I was given full creative control and I was able to collaborate with another junior designer to create the layout and theme.
The experience taught me how to balance tone and mood, while working with an existing aesthetic. I had so much fun transforming this hallway and loved getting feedback from the team.

I also enjoyed working on small projects using Adobe illustrator and photoshop. I came into this internship with no experience in these programs and the team gave me time and skills as I settled in. Through masking images and creating graphics, my appreciation for graphic designers grew because it is no easy task!

Another hands-on project was hand-lettering and installing a new food pantry outside the office. Openbox9 is helping their community through their design, and tangible care. By creating this pantry, I was able to be part of their mission.
I was often found moving about the office and also enjoyed sitting in on meetings with clients and observing the way the team collaborates across a variety of skill-sets on projects to creative solutions to nonprofits.
Overall this internship equipped me with new skills and experience, and I am so grateful to all of the team members who made openbox9 such a welcoming and creative space for me.
